Lawyers Who Sue Debt Collectors – Stop Debt Collection Calls
We are lawyers who sue debt collectors under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). We represent people being harassed by bill collectors and work to stop harassing collection calls using the FDCPA. We regularly sue debt collectors in federal and state court, and have a track record of obtaining favorable settlements for our clients being called by abusive debt collectors. The FDCPA not only provides for damages to victims of debt collector abuse, but also includes a fee-shifting provision where the debt collector pays our attorney’s fees. If you are facing collection calls, call one of our attorneys for a consultation today at (614) 944-5219. We help people without having to file bankruptcy.

What happens if I ignore the debt lawsuit?
It is common for the attorneys representing the debt collectors to "sit" on a judgment for a year or more before garnishing your wages if they get a judgment in court. They do this because once a year has passed, the rules of the courts make it incredibly hard for you to overturn the judgment they have against you. It makes it very difficult to stop a garnishment at that point, which can result in 25% of your GROSS wages (before taxes) being diverted to the debt company each paycheck in Ohio until the debt is paid. Once that happens, bankruptcy is likely. This is why it is critically important to talk to a lawyer like ours about your situation as soon as possible. If you receive a lawsuit, talk to a lawyer immediately!
If a judgment is in place, then the collection agency can garnish up to 25% of your gross (pre-tax) wages. This can be a significant amount of money, and generally requires immediate intervention by an attorney. If you are facing garnishment or attachment, call one of our attorneys for a consultation today at (614) 944-5219.
